Percentage of ballots counted for Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz counties so far

CENTRAL COAST, Calif. (KION-TV) -- With election day approaching next week, many polls and offices across the Central Coast are receiving their 2024 ballots early.

For Monterey County, they say that they've already seen 23% of the nearly 215,000 registered voters submit their ballots.

In San Benito County, 24% of the almost 38,000 voters have already cast their votes.

Santa Cruz County reported that as of 12:30 p.m.m Tuesday, 168,241 registered voters in the county had returned 44,498 mail-in ballots with an additional 813 in-person votes during the early voting period, which is a total turnout of 26.9% so far.

Santa Cruz County also said that they are setting up more voting locations and resources ahead of election day.

Election officials are also encouraging people to vote early instead of waiting for the busy polls on election day.

But either way, they want everyone who can vote to do so.
