Santa Cruz Police release surveillance photo of bank robbery suspect

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION-TV)- UPDATE ON MARCH 26, 2024 AT 12:26 PM- Santa Cruz Police released a surveillance photo of a man who is accused of robbing a Comerica Bank on March 20.

Officers said the man walked into the Comerica Bank on 25 River Street and handed a teller a demand note saying he was armed and needed money.

Police were able to recover the suspect's clothing and money as well.

Police are describing the suspect as a man in his 30s or 40s.

Santa Cruz Police is looking for a man who allegedly robbed a Comerica Bank on Monday afternoon.

Santa Cruz Police said they were dispatched to a Comerica Bank on 25 River Street for a reported bank robbery between 4:30 and 5 p.m.

When officers got to the scene, they learned that a man walked into the bank and handed the teller a demand note saying he was armed and needed money.

Officers said that the teller complied and gave him the unknown amount of money. The man left the bank on a bike per police.

Investigators said that the man did not show a weapon when the robbery was committed.

Santa Cruz Police Deputy Chief Jon Bush told KION that a short time later they recovered the suspect's clothing and money in a nearby parking garage.

Bush said they are gathering surveillance footage and photos regarding the incident.

Police said the suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 30's and 40's.
