Vallejo woman arrested on attempted murder and robbery charges

HOLLISTER, Calif. (KION-TV)- A 24-year-old Vallejo woman was arrested on attempted murder and robbery charges per Hollister Police.

The investigation started on Monday night around 6:40 p.m. when officers responded to a report of a woman driving in the areas of Fourth Street and then Central Avenue with a man hanging onto the hood of her car.

Officers learned that there was a transaction between the woman and the man. While the woman drove away in her car, the man jumped onto the hood of her car trying to stop her.

The driver who police identified as 24-year-old April Garcia drove for 3/4 of a mile at high speeds before the man fell from the car and was lying on the road.

The man was transported via air ambulance to a local hospital for life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses were able to provide the vehicle description and a license plate number to police. Police said the license plate reader was registered to an address in Vallejo.

A FLOCK camera system was able to capture a recording of the car entering Hollister just before the crime.

Investigators said a California Highway Patrol officer spotted the vehicle in Morgan Hill which was traveling northbound on Highway 101.

A Hollister Police officer showed up to the scene of the traffic stop and arrested Garcia.

She was booked into the San Benito County Jail on attempted murder and robbery charges.
