Watsonville Community Hospital and Second Harvest Food Bank Santa Cruz to open a food pantry within the hospital on Feb. 19

WATSONVILLE, Calif. (KION-TV)- The Watsonville Community Hospital and Santa Cruz County Community Food Bank will be opening a food pantry on February 19.

However, hospital officials confirmed that the food pantry will be located in the lobby of the hospital. The Second Harvest Food Bank said the pantry which will be called "Nourish," will be one of the first pantries inside a hospital in the state.

The pantry will primarily serve women and their families before and after a pregnancy. Moms can also sign up to have food delivered to their homes according to hospital officials.

However, if you are patient or a visitor at the hospital then you will be able to get food from the pantry.

Some of the food in the pantry will include local produce and healthy shelf-stable foods like rice, beans, and an assortment of canned goods

Nourish will be open on February 19. The pantry will be open from Monday thru Thursday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon.
