U.S. Coast Guard rescues a 76-year-old man from a cruise ship south of Monterey Bay

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV)- On Tuesday night, The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a 76-year-old man from a cruise ship who needed medical assistance.

Coast Guard officials said they were contacted by Cruise Ship Crown Princess crewmembers for a man requiring medical assistance.

A Coast Guard helicopter located the cruise ship that was 74 miles southwest of Monterey Bay. Coast Guard members were able to hoist the man and transported him to Monterey Airport.

The 76-year-old man was transported to Natividad Medical Center and treated for his injuries.
