45-year-old man dead after tree falls into Boulder Creek home, deputies say

BOULDER CREEK, Calif. (KION-TV)- The Santa Cruz County Sherriff's Office and the Boulder Creek Fire Department confirmed that one person is dead after a tree fell into their home on Sunday afternoon.

According to deputies, the tree fell into a home on the 14100 block of Highway 9 around 3:20 p.m. Firefighters said that two people were inside the home at the time that the tree fell.

One person was able to make it out of the house but a 45-year-old man was trapped inside the home.

Santa Cruz Sheriff's Office said the 45-year-old man sustained injuries from the tree falling into the home and was pronounced dead at the scene. He is being identified as 45-year-old Robert Brainard III of Boulder Creek.
