Scotts Valley Police investigating deadly car crash near the skate park

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. (KION) -- Scotts Valley Police are investigating a multi-vehicle collision that took place on Kings Village Road Saturday morning.

Police said officers were called to the area at 8:40am. They found a white Subaru directly across from the skate park, which is located at 361 Kings Village Road. The Subaru had collided with an unoccupied sedan parked in the skate park's parking lot, according to police. The only person inside the Subaru, identified as 63-year old Richard Wells of Santa Cruz County, was found dead.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident. They said prior to the collision, the Subaru was seen driving erratically in the skate park parking lot. Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Scotts Valley Police at (831) 440-5670.
