High School Football: Week 9

SALINAS, Calif. (KION) - As the high school football season enters the final stretch, several teams are now eyeing a division title and a playoff berth. However, only one team remains undefeated. Carmel improved to 8-0 overall with a dominant 50-20 showing against King City on Saturday.

The Padres' win over the Mustangs also maintains the one-game lead Carmel holds over North Salinas in the Mission South. The Padres are in first at 4-0, while the Vikings have sole possession of second place at 4-1.

In the Gabilan, Soquel's 14-7 win over Palma proved to be crucial as the Knights improved to 4-1 in division play. But, the Cowboys also moved to 4-0 in the Gabilan with a 44-14 win over Alvarez. Salinas extends its win streak to five games while also maintaining its lead over Soquel.
