San Benito County, San Juan Bautista meet for fire protection services
SAN BENITO COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- San Benito County Board of Supervisors approved a new recommendation in the ongoing fire services debate.
San Benito County's ad-hoc committee met with San Juan Bautista to discuss a way forward in fire protection services.
They looked at Hollister's proposal for an increase of three-point-six million for fire services.
The county and San Juan agreed they could not pay that amount, opting for a counter of one-point-two million instead with limited staffing.
This comes as the board has yet to agree.
"We got to figure this out together and so I know it's a really tough position that you, our ad-hoc committee members are in. I hope we can continue having conversations," San Benito Supervisor District 3 Mindy Sotelo said.
The recommendations were approved 3 to 2 with San Juan Bautista taking a look at the recommendations at their council meeting tonight.
The city of Hollister was invited to the ad-hoc meeting but did not show up.
