Two arrested in Santa Cruz high-speed pursuit Sunday
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Two teenagers were arrested during a high-speed pursuit in Santa Cruz leads to the discovery of a handgun and cannabis.
According to California Highway Patrol Santa Cruz, a CHP officer had spotted a black BMW speeding on Highway 1 North and tried to stop the vehicle.
The driver then sped away with the officer pursuing the vehicle before entering the Santa Cruz city limits.
As the pursuit ended, the BMW crashed at the Soquel Avenue off-ramp on Highway 1 South.
CHP approached the vehicle and arrested the two 17-year-olds from Watsonville inside the car.

Upon entering the car, CHP found a loaded handgun with an extended magazine and more than 20 pounds of cannabis intended for sale.
the two arrested will now face charges such as felony evading and possession of a loaded firearm with an extended magazine.
