Two people identified in deadly crash in Bradley, driver arrested on DUI charge

BRADLEY, Calif. (KION-TV) - Two people are dead following a crash Tuesday night on southbound Highway 101, just north of Jolon Road in Bradley, according to CHP.

The Monterey County Sheriff's Office has identified the victims as 35-year-old Sequan McKensie Taylor of Tacoma, Washington and 27-year-old Kayla Marie Smith of Spanoway, also in Washington.

Officials add, the driver in the van involved was found to be under the influence of drugs.

CHP said 38-year-old Anthony Harvey was driving a 2023 Ford Transit U-Haul rental van with three other passengers, who were unrestrained. One passenger was reportedly sitting in the front seat, while the other two passengers were laying on a mattress in the rear cargo area of the van.

According to investigators, Harvey crashed traveled off the roadway where and lost control of the vehicle, before overturning down a steep descending dirt embankment.

Officials say he impacts during the crash ultimately resulted in the two rear passengers sustaining blunt force trauma and later pronounced dead due to their injuries. 

Harvey was transported to Sierra Vista Regional Hospital in San Luis Obispo, where CHP said he was found to be under the influence of drugs.

CHP said after being medically cleared, he was booked to the Monterey County Jail in Salinas.

Harvey has been charged with DUI and causing physical harm to another person, possession of narcotics, possession of unlawful paraphernalia and murder.
