Celebration of Life scheduled for Rickey Henderson, ticket registration starts Monday
OAKLAND, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The MLB's Athletics announced the Celebration of Life for the late Oakland A's legend, Rickey Henderson, will be on February 1 at the Oakland Arena.
The public ceremony runs from 1 to 3 p.m. with ticket registration beginning on January 20.
Henderson passed away at the age of 65 back on December 20, just days before his birthday.
During his 25-year MLB career, Henderson played for nine teams and retired as the MLB's all-time stolen bases leader at 1,406 and all-time runs scored at 2,295.
He was also the 1990 American League MVP and regarded as one of the top leadoff hitters in the sport's history.
Henderson died after suffering from complications with pneumonia.
The A's previously announced the team will wear a patch bearing Rickey's iconic number 24 for the entirety of the 2025 season.
