WATCH: Multiple agencies stop forward progress of Buena Fire near Watsonville
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office says forward progress has been stopped on the Buena Fire burning near Watsonville off of Highway 1.
A spokesperson for the sheriff's office says 20 homes had to be evacuated and the fire grew to two acres before firefighters were able to get a handle on the blaze.
Some evacuation orders are now reduced to evacuation warnings according to the county's evacuation map.
Multiple agencies responded, including Central Fire, with Cal Fire CZU taking the lead on the fire fight.
Cal Fire CZU confirms they responded to reports of multiple fires burning in the area between between Buena Vista and Airport Boulevard.
A large plume of smoke could be seen pouring out of the area from the AlertCalifornia wildfire cameras just after 1 p.m.

CHP Santa Cruz says the far two left lanes are now open on Northbound Highway 1 after being closed for almost two hours due to the fire.
Drivers should expect delays in the area.
The Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds are being used as an evacuation point at this time.
