Stranded sea lion rescued along Highway 1 near Watsonville

WATSONVILLE, Calif. (KION-TV) -- CHP Santa Cruz said they were able to help rescue a sea lion stranded along Highway 1 near Watsonville on Saturday.

The CHP said this was on a portion of Highway 1 near Highway 129.

Photos of the rescue show the sea lion seated beside a fence alongside a field off the highway.

"Our flippered friend was safely captured and is now on its way to recovery," said the CHP.

The CHP also credited people in the community for calling in the stranded sea lion.
