Sinkhole shuts down a portion of La Salle Avenue in Seaside
SEASIDE, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The City of Seaside is warning people about a sinkhole that formed along La Salle Avenue in the city overnight.
Councilmember Alex Miller shared a photo with KION showing a car ended up in the sinkhole at one point in the night.
The fire department said the original call was for a break in a water line around 3 a.m.
According to Seaside Fire the call came in after the driver who ended up in the sinkhole attempted to drive through standing water.
The driver got themselves out of the vehicle and is expected to be okay.
Miller said because of how large the sinkhole is, the city is shutting down La Salle Avenue between Noche Buena and Fremont while crews patch up the hole.
It's unclear when the road will be fixed.
