Greenfield Police arrest suspect in attempted homicide

GREENFIELD, CALIF. (KION-TV)- Greenfield Police have arrested one suspect in connection to an attempted homicide Sunday night.

According to officials, officers responded to a stabbing on the 50 block of Walker Lane. When officers arrived, they found a victim with a single stab wound and was given immediate medical attention from the Greenfield Fire Department and American Medical Response. The victim was then transported to a local trauma center.

With the help of witnesses, officers identified 20-year-old Mario Santiago as the suspect. Santiago fled the scene, but was later apprehended by Greenfield, Soledad and King City Police.

Santiago was transported to the Monterey County jail for attempted murder and two felony arrest warrants. One of the warrants was for possession of a firearm.
