Deputies arrest suspect involved in San Juan Grade Road shooting

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV)- The Monterey County Sheriff's Office arrested a Salinas man who allegedly shot a victim on San Juan Grade Road just outside of Salinas on Tuesday morning.

A commander with the Sheriff's Office told KION that 31-year-old Jose Sebastian of Salinas was arrested on the 3100 block of Dunes Drive in Marina on Wednesday morning.

Deputies say that they responded to the 500 block of San Juan Grade Road for a report of a victim who was shot. Deputies located the victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound.

Investigators said the victim was transported to a local hospital for their injuries.

Deputies were able to identify Sebastian as the suspect through multiple leads.

Sebastian was arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail on multiple charges including attempted murder, felon in possession of firearm and related charges. His bail has been set at $1,000,000 per the Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said the motive of the shooting appears to be domestic violence related.

The Monterey County Sheriff's Office are looking for a suspect involved in a shooting that took place just outside of Salinas on Tuesday morning.

A Monterey County Sheriff's Office Commander told KION that the shooting happened at a residence on the 500 block of San Juan Grade Road around 6:23 a.m.

When deputies got to the scene, they located a victim with a single gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Deputies said the victim's condition is unknown at this hour.

Investigators are looking for the suspect involved in the shooting but the Sheriff's Office does not believe there is an immediate threat to the public.

A Sheriff's Office Commander said they do not have a suspect description at this hour.
