Aspire Health and Montage Health Foundation hosted the second annual “Healthy Field Day”

SEASIDE, Calif. (KION-TV)- Not a phone or TV was in sight as many kids were smiling at Cardinale Stadium on Tuesday.

Aspire Health and Montage Health Foundation held the second annual "Healthy Field Day." Over 130 kids across Monterey County came out to learn healthy habits.

"In Monterey County, type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes is a major issue a community health need that we need to address," said Carrie Creasey who is the community engagement officer for Montage Health.

Kids were also able to get to kick the ball around with some of their favorite soccer players like Monterey Bay F.C. defender and captain Kai Greene.

"A lot of these kids looked up to us and we are just trying to give them a good time out here," Greene said.

The Monterey County Healthy Needs Collaborative says that over half of residents in Monterey County struggle with type 2 or pre-diabetes.
