Living in the 831- Giant Dipper turns 100 years old

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION-TV)- Something very special is happening at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk this Saturday.

This year, the iconic Giant Dipper roller coaster is celebrating a major milestone, turning 100 years old!

Park officials said they will be having a public ceremony to honor the iconic thrill ride at 10:30 a.m. There will also be a fireworks show on Main Beach around 9 p.m.

In our "Living in the 831" series, I will show you why this thrill ride has become a cherished attraction on the Central Coast.
