Seaside man arrested for allegedly making threats towards Indiana State University, court records say
SEASIDE, Calif. (KION-TV)- On Thursday, A Seaside man is facing multiple charges after allegedly making threats against Indiana State University on social media.
According to a criminal complaint, Nicholas Wheeler threatened to shoot up his alma mater Indiana State University.
In page 8 of the complaint, Wheeler posted a photo with a pistol in the background.
Wheeler said in the post, "“I'm coming back you ain't gonna like me because I have my mg-m2 machine gun now."
Some of the social media posts were threatening multiple University Officials according to the criminal complaint.
In March, The Presidio of Monterey Police seized six guns from Wheeler's home including the one shown in the social media post.
Our CBS affiliate WTHI-TV said that Wheeler was taken into custody for a 72 hour assessment.
The complaint said that Wheeler is facing multiple charges including transmission to extortionate threat to kidnap or injure a person, in a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 875(b), and Transmission of a Threat to Kidnap or Injure a Person, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 875(c). If convicted, Wheeler does face 20 years in federal prison.
