New BMX and Skate Park potentially coming to Salinas Soccer Complex

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV)- The City of Salinas is one step closer to getting a new BMX and Skate Park.

The Monterey County Board of Supervisors approved a lease agreement between Monterey County and the City on Tuesday.

The proposed site will be located on East Laurel Drive near the Salinas Soccer Complex. The goal is to provide more recreational spaces for children and teenagers especially where they can bike and skate safely.

"It really alleviates a lot of these facility needs that we don't have in the community," Salinas Soccer Complex General Manager Jonathan De Anda said. "So you know these kids are riding on the streets are gonna be able to come to our facility and enjoy it in a much safer environment."

The County expects the project to cost $3 million. They are still working on securing funding but it is unclear when the bike track skate park will be built.
