Family and friends remember Mario Guzman Mendoza
KING CITY, Calif. (KION-TV): It was a somber day in King City as family and friends remembered the life of Mario Guzman Mendoza who was one of four people killed in a mass shooting on March 3.
Guzman was killed at a birthday party on the 200 block of Second Street. Guzman's family wants people to remember him for who he was.
"To remember him as he was, he was always nice and very respectful to everyone." said Carlos Martinez Mendoza, who is Mario's brother
Mario's family said the pain doesn't go away.
"There are no words to say much in this occasion because I still feel very devastated, to have your brother taken away from you in such a way." said Ermelinda Martinez, sister of Mario.
People payed their respects in tears. The aunt of another person killed at the party also attended services as she continues to mourn the loss of Olivo Perez Pina.
"We feel scared and now very sad for those who died," said Maria Elena Argueta who is the aunt of Olivo Perez Pina, "Among them is my godson and my nephew."
Argueta said her nephew, Olivo, was a very joyful person.
Meanwhile, Mario's family said they now hope his body arrives safely to Mexico.
"I will only be fine until my mother receives his body in Oaxaca," said Martinez, "Because right now I can't sleep or anything, why? because I know that my brother is still here with us."
Mario's family said if everything goes well they will send Mario's body in two weeks to Oaxaca, Mexico.
Mario's family also said today is also the last day of his rosary for his eternal rest.
