Monterey County Sheriff’s Office investigating burned body found on South Davis Road near Salinas

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The Monterey County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fire along the train tracks on South Davis Road where a body was found burning on Thursday morning.

Salinas Fire initially responded to the scene around 10 a.m. for reports of a fire. After putting out the flames, firefighters realized it was a person who was on fire.

The sheriff's office responded and are trying to determine if it was an accidental fire, a warming fire, or if the individual was a victim of a crime.
