Garden Grove man arrested after allegedly robbing multiple banks on the Central Coast, police say

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV)- On Tuesday afternoon, Salinas Police announced a Southern California man who has allegedly robbed or attempted to rob multiple banks throughout the Central Coast was arrested.

Salinas Police said that a man entered the Mechanics Bank branch on the 1200 block of North Davis Road on Monday afternoon. Investigators said the suspect walked up to the teller station and robbed the bank for an estimated $1800.

Officers said that the suspect left the bank and drove northbound on towards North Davis Road in a newer white vehicle.

Police said they were able to locate the suspect vehicle where it was discovered he attempted to rob a bank in Gilroy last Saturday.

Investigators looked at the vehicle's records and identified the owner as Michael Todd Haley as the primary suspect in both robberies.

Haley had been previously arrested four times between 2009 and 2013 for prior robbery arrests that took place in Perris, Monterey, Milpitas, and Salinas.

A search warrant was served for Haley and he was later arrested at his residence in Garden City by Garden City Police.

According to Salinas Police, Haley will be transported back to Monterey and Santa Clara Counties where he faces charges of robbery and attempted robbery.
