Boil water notice lifted for Garrapata area, precautionary notice still in effect for Carmel Riviera MWC customers, says County of Monterey

CARMEL, Calif. (KION-TV) - The County of Monterey announced a boil water notice issued for people living in the Garrapata area was lifted on Saturday.

Pressure was restored and two rounds of samples came back clean, according to the county.

A precautionary boil water notice is still in effect for Carmel Riviera Mutual Water Company customers. People using that system are still advised to boil water for three to five minutes before drinking or cooking with it.

ORIGINAL STORY -- The County of Monterey has issued a boil water notice for two areas in the Carmel area due to recent storm damages.

The first notice is for people who live in the Garrapata area. County officials said a falling tree damaged a water main on Monday which has caused water outage issues.

People who live in the Garrapata area are advised to used boiled tap water for drinking and cooking.

The second precautionary boil water notice was issued for customers who use the Carmel Riviera Mutual Water Company. County officials said that the reason is a main break from the storm damages have caused a loss of pressure for the system.

People who use the water system are advised to boil water for three to five minutes before using it for drinking or cooking.
