Salinas woman dies in a solo vehicle rollover on Highway 101 and San Juan Road on-ramp
SAN BENITO COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV)- UPDATE ON JAN. 23 AT 11:19 AM- The California Highway Patrol confirmed that a woman has died in a solo vehicle rollover crash on Monday afternoon.
Officers said that the crash happened just before 3 p.m. on northbound Highway 101 and the San Juan Road on-ramp.
Investigators said that a 33-year-old Salinas woman was driving a GMC Sierra at an unknown speed. Officers said the woman's vehicle veered off the roadway and flipped on the right shoulder of the road and into some grass.
The San Benito County Sheriff's Office identified the woman as 33-year-old Erendira Martinez.
According to officers, Martinez was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. CHP said that the vehicle landed on top of the woman.
CAL FIRE units arrived on the scene to move the GMC Sierra off of the woman. Investigators said the woman died from her injuries at the scene.
The crash is still under investigation.

The crash happened around 3 p.m. on northbound Highway 101 and San Juan Road on-ramp near the San Benito County/Monterey County line.
