Alisal Union School District closed after staff test positive for COVID-19
SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Two Alisal Union School District staff members have tested positive for COVID-19, forcing the closure of the district office.
The announcement was made by the Alisal Union School District superintendent, Jim Koenig, Friday afternoon.
He says both staff members were employees at the district office.
Koenig adds one had been on vacation for 14 days at the time of the diagnosis and hasn't returned to work. The other employee has been self-quarantining at home.
"While much has been done to prepare for the reopening of our schools, Alisal USD officials are fully aware of the evolving nature of the pandemic and remain committed to remain flexible and evaluate all options," Koenig says. "Closing the District Office immediately is an example of this prompt response. We remain committed to swift and responsive action, transparency, and open communication with all our stakeholders."
The office will remain closed until further notice.
