SALINAS, Calif. (KION)

A Salinas apartment complex on Santa Rita Street was evacuated for a fire, Monday night.

The Salinas Fire Department tells KION that the fire started in the balcony and then moved inside and to the attic. The fire was reported at around 7 p.m. and was knocked down less than 20 minutes after crews arrived. No one was injured.

The apartment is uninhabitable with moderate damage, according to Salinas Fire.

At the same time, another report of a fire came in on Regency Circle. North County Fire Protection District, Monterey County Regional Fire District, and Presidio of Monterey Fire all responded to assist with both fires.

The Salinas Police Department also responded to the incident to help with evacuations and traffic control.

This is a developing story.
