MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- There was a vehicle pursuit that resulted in an arrest early Friday morning, according to the Monterey County Sheriff's Office.

They said that they collaborated with the CHP and King City Police Officers to arrest 34-year-old Hugo Manuel Sanchez, who had stolen two vehicles after vandalizing a home and committing violence against a person in San Ardo.

At around 12:45 a.m. Friday, deputies say they were dispatched to the 62000 block of Cattlemen
Road in San Ardo for a reported domestic disturbance.

The victim reported that Sanchez had vandalized property and stolen her vehicle, according to deputies.

Then, around 2:15 a.m., police say that the victim called again to report that Sanchez came back and was being violent.

According to police, Sanchez reportedly battered a neighbor before stealing the victim’s second vehicle and fleeing the scene again.

Around 30 minutes later, a Sheriff Sergeant saw a vehicle matching the description of the second stolen vehicle at a gas station on Broadway Avenue in King City and confirmed it as the stolen vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Sergeant coordinated with King City Police Officers to attempt a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle, but it failed to yield and entered southbound Highway 101 at First Street, deputies said.

The CHP was called out to assist, according to deputies, and they were able to successfully deploy spike strips near Wild Hose Road, which disabled the front tires of the vehicle.

It continued to drive despite being on its bare front wheels, until it reached the San Ardo exit, deputies said.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, that's when police were able to intervene and stop the vehicle that ended up stuck in wet grass before trying to re-enter southbound Highway 101.

Sanchez was finally taken into custody without further incident by Monterey County deputies as well as the King City Police Department.

Sanchez has been booked into the Monterey County Jail for a number of violations, including vehicle theft, evading a peace officer, violation of a court order and violation of probation, according to deputies.
