Coleman Fire gains containment
LOS PADRES NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. (KION) 10/23/2020: Containment on the Coleman Fire has increased to 20% overnight.
It remains at 574 acres as we head into the weekend.
UPDATE 10/22/2020 9 a.m. The Coleman Fire near the perimeter of the Dolan Fire has burned 574 acres and is 5% contained, according to officials.
They said crews will work in steeper sections to connect dozer lines that were built Wednesday.
UPDATE 10/19/2020 9 a.m. The Coleman Fire in Monterey County that started Sunday has grown to 500 acres with 0% containment.
The fire is burning near the Dolan Fire in the area around the Los Padres National Forest and Fort Hunter Liggett.
Air tankers and helicopters have been brought in to help.
UPDATE: 10/18/20 5:41 p.m. Fort Hunter Liggett confirmed via Twitter that voluntary evacuations orders are in place for Pine, Reliz and Coleman Canyons.
They also added that Fort Hunter Liggett itself is not being endangered by the fire.
UPDATE: 10/18/20 4:44 p.m. Fort Hunter Liggett has confirmed that the fire has burned 200 acres.
PREVIOUS STORY: CAL FIRE is reporting that a new fire has broken out just outside of the perimeter of the Dolan Fire, near Fort Hunter Liggett.
Fort Hunter Liggett is leading the response to the fire, which has been dubbed the Coleman Fire. Los Padres National Forest is also responding, and CAL FIRE is assisting.
