Good Old Days event set to return to Pacific Grove, expected to bring economic boost to area
PACIFIC GROVE, Calif. (KION-TV) - A beloved community tradition is about to take over the streets of Pacific Grove once again. Good Old Days, Pacific Grove’s largest community event, is days away and preparations are taking place.
“We have over 200 arts, crafts and food vendors coming in, over 50 music and performers, five stages, beer gardens, wine gardens, animals, carnival rides," Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Christi Metzner said.
Good Old Days started 66 years in a small parking lot, and has since expanded to 10 acres along Pacific Grove's Lighthouse Avenue. Metzner said many of the nearby hotels, restaurants, and shops benefit from the attendees.
“They like to sit on the patios and enjoy our restaurants, our stores get very busy, which they love. And we actually have, some of our stores have the opportunity to set up a booth downtown as well," Metzner said.
One of the new businesses looking forward to the festival crowds, Hops and Fog Brewing Company.
“We opened up about nine months ago, right smack dab in the middle of car week, and so we, we got baptized in a fire," Hops and Fog Brewing Company co-owner Mike Durrant said. “When we got into this, we wanted to build it for our community and something to kind of get us all together and give us a place within Pacific Grove and it's been awesome. The community has really welcomed us in with open arms."
This year’s event marking the first Good Old Days since they’ve been open.
Other businesses in Pacific Grove, like Victorian Corner Restaurant, said this is an event they look forward to each year.
“The parade that we have every Saturday morning brings a huge crowd of people down, ready to eat after the parade and go shopping and go to the to the kid rides," Victorian Corner restaurant owner Mary Aliotti said. "This is such a great family event. It brings such a diverse amount of people to the area, and also people can just recognize that it's a great town to see.”
If you are interested in checking out Good Old Days, the event runs Sat, May 3 from 9 a.m. To 6 p.m. and Sun, May 4 from 9 a.m. To 5 p.m.
