Girls Scouts rescued in Los Padres National Forest on Sunday

LOS PADRES, Calif. (KION-TV) - A Girl Scout and a Girl Scout leader were rescued on Sunday in the Los Padres Forest after a fall into a canyon.

According to CHP, during an overnight hike, a group of Girl Scouts were having an overnight hiking trip until one of the scouts fell into a remote canyon, suffering a head injury.

A rescue helicopter came in the next morning to rescue the injured scout and their scout leader.

Both were flown to Natividad Medical Center, where the injured scout was given medical attention.

The other six Girl Scouts and a second scout leader were also hoisted and rescued, with no injuries, but they were unfamiliar with the area and lost.
