PG&E warns of potential Public Safety Power Shutoffs in Santa Cruz County
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) - PG&E is warning of potential Public Safety Power Shutoffs, or PSPS, for areas in the Santa Cruz Mountains this week.
According to the utility, shutoffs could starts as early as 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5 and could last until 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7. PG&E says the PSPS watch is to prevent possible wildfires.
It comes amidst a red flag warning issued by the National Weather Service for parts of the Central Coast including the Santa Cruz region and higher elevations. That warning is scheduled for Tuesday through Thursday morning.
PG&E has reported that approximately 325 customers in Santa Cruz County may be affected by the PSPS.
