Public meetings to discuss Salinas’ Corridor Improvement Project; Cal Trans

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Cal Trans is inviting the public to attend a couple of meetings this week on the proposed Highway 101 south Salinas Corridor Improvement Project.

They are saying that the meetings will be from 4 until 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Ag Center conference room at 1432 Abbott Street, and then again on Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Chualar Elementary School gymnasium.

The Salinas Corridor Improvement Project is considering relocating two interchanges and Highway 101 at Grant and Main streets in Chualar, as well as Abbott Street south of Salinas.

If approved, the project would also remove median access and eliminate left-hand turns as well as U-turns along the highway.

In addition, Cal Trans says that the meetings will introduce a prosed Highway 101 project between the northbound exit at Chualar and the under-crossing at Airport Road.
