Female teacher arrested in Soledad for allegedly having sex with a student

Detectives from the Soledad Police Department have arrested 34-year-old Marina Ramirez Rico. Investigators say she was having sexual intercourse with a former student who was 15 years old at the time. The alleged crime occurred while Rico was a teacher at Soledad High School, according to police.

Rico is currently a teacher at Main Street Middle School, according to investigators. Detectives say when they took Rico into custody they found “further evidence of this crime.” The superintendent for Soledad Unified School District tells KION that Rico has been placed on administrative leave after her arrest.

The police department’s victim advocate is assisting with the victim and his parents.

We are working to find out if Rico is still employed at the middle school and if police think there are other victims.
