DALLAS (AP) — The Dallas police chief says a man accused of fatally shooting a Dallas police officer and wounding two others was targeting police. Chief Eddie Garcia said at a news conference Friday that the officers “were targeted for nothing more than the uniform they wear.” The suspect was later killed by officers after a highway chase. Garcia said Officer Darron Burks was shot in his squad car on Thursday night while in a parking lot. When two other officers arrived on the scene, they were shot and wounded. Officers chased the suspect to Lewisville, about 25 miles northwest of Dallas, where he was shot and killed on the highway.
