One person killed in Carmel Valley crash, says CHP

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The CHP confirmed one person died Saturday in a solo-vehicle crash on E Carmel Valley Road near Via Los Tulares.

The 34-year-old man killed in the crash hasn't been identified by the CHP at this time.

The CHP said the man was driving his Toyota Tacoma on Carmel Valley Road near Klondike Road at an unknown speed.

Investigators said for an unknown reason the driver lost control at a left hand curve in the road and crashed into a guardrail.

The CHP said the Toyota went over the guardrail and traveled down an embankment before turning onto its roof.

The CHP said its unknown if alcohol and/or drugs are a factor in the crash but are still working on the case.
