Salinas Police arrest the second suspect involved in killing 18-year-old near W. Lake Street
SALINAS, Calif. (KION) UPDATE Oct. 13, 2021 2 p.m. Salinas Police arrested the second suspect in relation to the homicide that took place on Sept. 27. The first suspect was arrested and charged for homicide on Sept. 29.
Police arrest suspect after helicopter and drone hover over Salinas
According to Salinas Police, at around 12:45 p.m., witnesses reported a victim being shot near W. Lake Street and Martell Street. When police arrived 18-year-old Kazia Blunt was suffering from gunshot wounds. After further investigation, at least two of the men in the group were showing off their handguns, before shooting Blunt multiple times.
On Sept. 29, police were seen in helicopter and drover hovering over the Chinatown area before arresting one of the suspects.

UPDATE Sept. 27, 2021 4:00 p.m. Salinas Police Chief Roberto Filice confirmed the shooting was a homicide and the person shot is dead. No suspect is in custody at this time. Police are still investigating and interviewing witnesses.
ORIGINAL STORY: Salinas Police are near W Lake Street, west of N Main Street, responding to a reported shooting since 1 p.m. on Monday. A woman told KION her grandson was shot. His condition is unknown. Police have closed off the area.
