City of Seaside name Nick Borges Police Chief
SEASIDE, Calif. (KION) UPDATE August 25, 2022, at 9:46 a.m. - The City of Seaside has announced that Nicholas Borges has been selected as the City's new Police Chief.
He was appointed interim Chief in August of 2021. The City says Borges has shown a strong ethical and moral compass and principled-based leadership with a record of success in modern law enforcement management and implementation of best practices that include police operations, investigations, support services, and administration.
"I am honored to take on this position and am eager to continue working alongside the department and community that I respect and love," said Borges.
Chief Borges earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice Management and has Masters in Organizational Leadership from California Coast University.
Seaside Mayor Ian Oglesby stated, “Chief Borges is highly regarded in the Seaside Police Department and has earned the trust and respect of our diverse community” “I am confident Chief Borges is the right person for the job at this time. I know he will focus first on community safety and bridging the gaps in trust and communication between our residents and our police department, moving Seaside forward.”
Seaside Police Department appoints Acting Police Chief
The Seaside Police Department announced Tuesday that an Acting Police Chief has been appointed.
Deputy Chief Nick Borges will fill the position until the department hires a permanent Police Chief.
Seaside Police Chief departing for San Leandro Police Department
The City of San Leandro announced in July that Seaside Police Chief Abdul Pridgen was hired as the new Police Chief for the San Leandro Police Department. His first day is set for Sept. 13.
