Nursery owner buys airfield in Carmel area

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) A large airfield in the Carmel area that has been dormant for years is expected to see a boost in activity soon after it was bought by a local nursery owner.

The new owner of the airfield is Ken Griggs, the owner of Griggs Nursery. He said he wants to allow residents to continue using the old airfield for recreational purposes, but he also hopes to use the area to expand his business and grow more plants.

"There's endless possibilities. My wife and I would like to see a skateboard park, maybe even a bicycle pump track. We have so many ideas," he said.

Griggs says he plans to start working on the nursery expansion right away.
