APTOS, Calif. (KION) Three people have been displaced from their home after a house fire in Aptos.

Firefighters responded to the Ranchitos Del Sol area when a resident reported that her neighbor's house was on fire, and when they arrived, firefighters saw flames and smoke coming from the house.

Firefighters said flames were coming through the roof and windows on one side of the house, and while they were at work the roof collapsed, making it unsafe for firefighters to continue indoors.

The fire was contained to the kitchen and extinguished, but because of heat and smoke damage, firefighters said the building is uninhabitable.

Nobody was home at the time of the fire and nobody was injured, but three people were displaced.

The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen, but the cause is still under investigation.
