City Council approves purchase of restraint tool for Seaside police
SEASIDE, Calif. (KION) The Seaside police department is set to get a device intended to help them maintain safety when force is needed.
The City Council approved the purchase of BolaWrap devices for the department at its meeting Thursday night.
"The well-being of our community is paramount & this device speaks to our ongoing commitment to reduce harm," Chief Abdul Pridgen said in a social media post.
A BolaWrap is a restraint tool that releases a tether made of synthetic fiber that wraps around a suspect's legs, preventing them from getting away. It is used as an alternative to a taser or other non-lethal options.
