Monterey expands parking service in Cannery Row area
MONTEREY, Calif. (KION) Last year, the City of Monterey launched the ParkMobileapp in the downtown and waterfront areas to improve service, but it is now expanding in the Cannery Row area.
With the expansion, ParkMobile is adding 500 app-enabled parking spaces at street meters.
The app allows for contactless parking payment, and it sends an alert when the parking time is about to expire, so it can be extended from your phone.
"Monterey continues to expand easy payment options with ParkMobile throughout the City that provides the added benefit to public health during the pandemic," says Parking Superintendent Cristie Steffy. “We know a lot of people in Monterey already have the ParkMobile app on their phones, which will make paying for parking easier at more locations across the city.”
Before the expansion, there were 1,200 parking spots available around Monterey. To get started, users can download the ParkMobile app in the App Store or Google Play. From there, they can create an account, enter vehicle information and set up a payment method.
To use ParkMobile, drivers can enter a zone number using nearby signage or a map, choose the amount of time they want to park there and extend the time as needed.
If users are traveling outside of Monterey, the app can also be used in other cities around the country.
