Fire started when tree falls into power lines in Carmel Highlands

CARMEL HIGHLANDS, Calif. (KION) Crews have contained a small vegetation fire in the Carmel Highlands.

At around 7 a.m., firefighters from the Carmel Highlands Fire Protection District, Cypress Fire Protection District, the Pebble Beach Community Services District, the Monterey Fire Department and Cal Fire responded to the fire near Fern Canyon Road and Cypress Way.

The fire was contained at less than an acre, and crews said it was started when a dead tree fell across the roadway and into power lines.
