Crash north of State Park Drive prompts Highway 1 lane closures

APTOS, Calif. (KION) A driver was injured as a result of a crash on Highway 1 north of State Park Drive Wednesday afternoon.

The California Highway Patrol said a 76-year-old Moss Landing man was heading north on the highway when the vehicle left the road and overturned into trees and fencing.

The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle. He had moderate injuries.

The CHP closed northbound Highway 1 temporarily as a result of the crash, but all lanes have reopened.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but the CHP said drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor at this point.
