Police: Four people who told officers they were gang members arrested on gun charges

MONTEREY, Calif. (KION) Three Greenfield men were arrested on gun and gang-related charges in Monterey Tuesday.

Police said they were called to the 100 block of Tide Avenue for reports of gunshots just before 12:30 a.m. When they got there, they saw a vehicle with four people inside parked in a no-parking zone.

Inside the vehicle, officers said they saw two of them try to hide themselves and open containers of alcohol.

Police asked the four people inside- identified as 18-year-old Antonio Silvestre, 19-year-old Oscar Silvestre, 20-year-old Jesus Hernandez and a 17-year-old juvenile- to get out of the vehicle.

Officers said they found two handguns and a high-capacity magazine in the vehicle. During the arrest, police said the suspects told officers they were gang members, showed gang signs and used expletives directed towards the officers.

The three adults were booked into the Monterey County Jail and the juvenile was booked into Juvenile Hall.
