NTSB to hold board meeting discussing dive boat fire investigation

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KION) The National Transportation Safety Board is set to discuss the dive boat fire that killed multiple people off the coast of Santa Barbara a year ago Wednesday.

The Conception was off the coast of Santa Cruz Island on Sept. 2 when it caught fire. All 33 passengers on board were killed in the fire along with one of the six crew members.

Some of the victims were Santa Cruz County residents, including:

  • 60-year-old Carol Diana Adamic of Santa Cruz
  • 41-year-old Vaidehi Campbell of Felton
  • 16-year-old Berenice Felipe of Santa Cruz
  • 41-year-old Kristina “Kristy” Finstad of Santa Cruz
  • 55-year-old Steven Salika of Santa Cruz
  • 17-year-old Tia Salika-Adamic of Santa Cruz, CA

At the meeting, the NTSB's board is expected to vote on findings, probable cause and recommendations, as well as any changes to the draft final report.

The meeting is set for Oct. 20 at 9:30 a.m. It will be held virtually-only.
