Gilroy man killed in crash on SR 25 Saturday
SAN BENITO COUNTY, Calif. (KION) A Gilroy man has died following a single-car crash on SR 25 south of the intersection with Bolsa Road.
The California Highway Patrol said the man was driving a Toyota Tacoma north at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday. For unknown reasons, the vehicle turned to the right and steered slightly off the road and onto the shoulder.
The driver then lost control of the vehicle, drove across the southbound lane and onto the west shoulder, according to the CHP. The vehicle hit a tree and came to a stop.
The 21-year-old driver was extricated and taken to Natividad where he died of his injuries. The passenger, a 20-year-old man from Morgan Hill, was taken to Natividad with major injuries.
