Two charged in connection to illegal cannabis grow, one accused of throwing chemicals in Warden’s face
MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) The Monterey County District Attorney's Office announced that the Cannabis Enforcement Unit has filed charges against two people accused of illegally growing cannabis on public lands in Southern Monterey County. During the arrest, one of them allegedly threw chemicals in a Warden's face.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife investigated the site that had more than 6,500 cannabis plants. The agency said there was illegally cleared land, illegal water diversion and chemical use to grow plants and protect from pests. The site was littered with trash and chemicals, according to the DA's Office, and a creek nearby flowed to the ocean.
Warden Buckler with the CDFW ordered a suspect to raise his hands, and the DA's Office said the suspect turned and threw a cup of chemical's in the Warden's face.
The suspect allegedly started to run away, but the Warden released his canine, who bit and detained the suspect.
While following other suspects, the Warden Started to feel sick and started vomiting. He was airlifted to a hospital, treated and released.
Two suspects, Cristo Sanchez Suarez and Alejandro Barbosa Mejia, were arrested.
