Prescribed burn jumps road near Lockwood prompting closure

LOCKWOOD, Calif. (KION)

UPDATE 7/8/2020 4:40 p.m. Jolon Road at Mission Street has partially reopened after a prescribed burn jumped the road.

There is still a police escort for traffic through the area.

PREVIOUS STORY: A section of Jolon Road is closed at Mission and Jolon Streets until about 3:30 p.m., according to Fort Hunter Liggett.

Officials said a prescribed burn in the area jumped the road, and firefighters are stopping traffic temporarily to contain it.

Fort Hunter Liggett officials said to use Highway 101 as an alternate route.
